"Red John" is the eighth episode of the sixth season of The Mentalist, and the 124th episode overall. Written by series creator Bruno Heller and directed by longtime director and executive producer Chris Long, the episode marks the conclusion to the series' long-running Red John storyline, which had been developing for the entirety of the series.
All 22 episodes were included on the five disc complete sixth season set. It was released on September 20, 2014 in Region 1 , October 20, 2014 in Region 2, and October 8, 2014 in Region 4. It included the featurette " Patrick Jane : Redeemed, Recovered, Restored" and unaired scenes.
Later, in season 3, Mashburn reappears, and at the end of the episode it is revealed that Lisbon liked Mashburn. Mashburn, who then leaves for Europe, has not reappeared in the series altogether. In the season 6 finale of The Mentalist ("Blue Bird"), Jane openly admits his love towards Lisbon and at the end of the episode, they finally kiss.
