Grain Valley is a city in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. Grain Valley is located in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area and is a suburb of Kansas City . The population was 15,627 at the 2020 census .
According to the United States Census Bureau, the City has a total area of 11.29 square miles (29.24 km 2), of which 10.31 square miles (26.70 km 2) is land and 0.98 square miles (2.54 km 2) is water. [9] According to the Lake Lotawana website [10] the lake has 600 acres of surface water and 27 miles of shoreline.
It was established in 1834, named after Sni-A-Bar Creek. [2] [3] The township included Blue Springs, Oak Grove, and the village of Grain Valley.It reportedly became William Quantrill's "principal rendezvous mainly because this area provided many bushwhackers and Confederate sympathizers".

Tarsney Lakes is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jackson County, Missouri, United States.It is in the eastern part of the county, northeast of the unincorporated community of Tarsney, and consisting of residential neighborhoods surrounding Tarsney Lake and Wood Lake, just south of the West Fork of Sni-A-Bar Creek.
Lake Charles R. Fillmore (named for the grandson of the Unity cofounders) was created in 1926 to supply water to the farm and orchard that Unity maintained until the 1980s. A crew of 100 men built a concrete buttress dam, the only one of its kind in Missouri and one of the few west of the Mississippi River, at a cost of $100,000 to form the lake.
