Stow played a role in the English Civil War.A number of engagements took place in the area, the local church of St Edward being damaged in one skirmish. On 21 March 1646, the Royalists, commanded by Sir Jacob Astley, were defeated at the Battle of Stow-on-the-Wold, with hundreds of prisoners being confined for some time in St Edwards. [4]
The short segment between US 50 at Salida and US 24 at Buena Vista closely parallels the original U.S. Route 650, [4] which was designated in 1926, but eliminated in 1936 when US 285 was commissioned along its present extent from Sanderson to Denver, mostly replacing state-numbered highways.

The route, also known as Sheridan Boulevard, starts at US 285 in Denver and ends at US 36 in Westminster. There are interchanges with US 6, I-70, and I-76. In the area between I-70 and Colfax Avenue, the road lies just west of Sloan's Lake.

State Highway 7 (SH 7) is an 81.64-mile (131.39 km) state highway in Colorado, United States.It is located in the north-central portion of the state, traversing the mountains on the east of the continental divide south of Estes Park as well as portions of the Colorado Piedmont north of Denver.
The Talbot was originally conceived as a coaching inn with stables in the street behind. It was designed in the vernacular style, built in rubble masonry in around 1714. [2] [3] In the 1840s, the building began to serve as the local corn exchange and, at that time, the left-hand section of three bays was refaced in ashlar stone such that it slightly projected forward onto the Market Square.
