Semester at Sea (SaS) is a study-abroad program founded in 1963 and managed by the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) [1] in Fort Collins, Colorado. Colorado State University is the current academic sponsor [ 1 ] and the program is conducted on a cruise ship.
The ship had conducted a single semester at sea from February to May 1996 and began a pleasure cruise, not related to the Semester at Sea program, from Vancouver to Alaska on July 23, 1996. On July 27, 1996, after rounding retreat point in the Lynn Canal , Alaska, a fire broke out in the laundry room around 3 AM.

During Spring of 2020 (yes you read that correctly) I took a leap of faith and went on a ship with over 600 strangers for one heck of a Semester at Sea.
Road Rules: Semester at Sea is the eighth season of the MTV reality television series Road Rules.This season featured six cast members in the shipboard Semester at Sea study program, and followed the cast as they travelled aboard a cruise ship, both while taking school classes and embarking on the various adventures and scavenger hunts typical of Road Rules.
It encompasses regimental training, military drill, and physical fitness. It also serves as an introduction to shipboard/maritime safety, nomenclature, and customs. The indoctrination period and cadet candidate program is essential to the preparation for the youngies' first semester at sea (sea term) in January.
The Scholar Ship [1] was an academic program aboard a modified Royal Caribbean Cruises [2] passenger ship hosting both undergraduate and postgraduate students on semester-long voyages around the world. The discontinuation of the program was announced in June 2008. Programs aboard the Scholar Ship were 16 weeks in duration.
