The Mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government in Nepal. There are in total 293 mayors in Nepal (6 metropolitan cities , 11 sub-metropolitan cities, and 276 municipalities ). [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Mayors are very powerful in the municipal government. [ 3 ]
The corporation then consisted of 70 elected representatives and 50 electoral divisions and the office of Mayor introduced for the first time. The first elections were held in 1950. The name of the council changed — first to Bangalore City Corporation (BCC) and then to Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BMP) in the year 1989. [5] [6] [7] [8]
Panauti (Nepali: पनौती) is a municipality in Kavrepalanchok District in Bagmati Province of Nepal located 32 km Southeast of the capital Kathmandu. The town is currently listed as a UNESCO tentative site since 1996.

Under the Seventy-fourth Amendment of the Constitution of India, local governments of cities with a population of 1 lakh (100,000) and above are known as Municipal Corporations. This is a list of Municipal Corporation under State/Union Territory based on the 2011 Census of India .
They are governed according 1964 Act for Municipalities (for City or Town Municipalities and Pattana / Town Panchayats) and 1976 Act for Municipal Corporation (for Corporations). The Government of Karnataka has set the guidelines for municipalities according to the 74th Amendment for the Constitution of India .
