  2. Tying on jig with loop knot - Page 2 - Crappie

A loop knot will of course allow a balanced jig to maintain a horizontal alignment with ease, and is probably the best knot for a balanced jig in many types of presentations. I pull my jigs at a constant speed, long lining, so a loop knot is OK but not a big advantage of any kind. The knot in the video is definitely worth mastering.

  3. Loop knots for jigs or regular knots? - Crappie

I'm no jig pole expert , but I tie direct- no loop knot. I don't see how a 3 inch thich body jig and a 1 3/4 inch skinny jig can both hang level on the same jig head with a loop knot, but again I/m no physics major !! I see Crappiepro loop knot hang level. I tried to fine his old post but haven't.

  4. Loop knot to attach fly - Fly Fishing - Maine Fly Fish

    www.maineflyfish.com/forums/index.php?/topic/34117-loop-knot-to-attach-fly

I’ve heard of folks using it on streamer and big flies also. The downside of the loop knot when fishing flies like streamers, crabs or clousers is the size of the loop. If the loop is to large, the shock of the fly coming tight in the loop with repeated casting has a nasty habit of snapping off in the rounded end of the loop.

To those loops, I tie on a 4 or 5 foot long piece of 4 lb test mono. I slip a jig and run it up the mono, for now. Then I tie a 2nd jig to the end of the mono with a loop knot. Then I position the 2nd jig about 2 feet up the leader from the jig on the end and tie on the second jig with a second loop knot. This is mostly for brushpile fishing.

  7. Loop knots or tie directly to the jig? - Crappie

I always tie direct. On jigs I use a loop knot. Minners I tie a palomar directly to the hook...just my . Ymmv. I was always a firm believer in a tight improved clinch knot. Last year I tried using the loop knot. I will not go back to a tight knot on a jig again. I believe the action of the jig improves with a loop.

loop knot only for me . the fast snap will not fall the same as a loop knot . and horizontal is key ,but the loop knot is well known for being the king of horizontal anyway . set your jig free to be hunted down like it should . additional anything on my line is a nuisance item .

  10. Loop knots for jig heads using 6lb braided line - Crappie

    www.crappie.com/crappie/main-crappie-fishing-forum/425608-loop-knots-jig-heads...

For some Crappie fishing I use 6lb braided line and tie direct to a jig head. Since I vertical jig sometimes I like to use a loop knot since supposedly it provides better action for my lure. I use a no-slip loop knot for other line types but when I use it with 6lb braid it tends to slip and I've lost confidence in it for braid.

The diagram below explains how I've been doing it best; I just cut off a leader section, put the jigs on the line where I want them to end up (about 2 feet apart), then tie this knot with the jig already on the end of the loop knot. In other words, you want the jig to be on the part of the line that goes under and back through, and you end up ...
