The city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, is divided into administrative divisions. Greater Mumbai is the urban agglomeration of 18 million people (the largest in India and one of the six largest in the world) which comes under the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai employs 140,626 people.
The city district region is also commonly referred to as the Island City or South Mumbai. [2] Mumbai Suburban district lies to the north of Mumbai City district and comprises all of Mumbai's suburbs. The western part of the Mumbai Suburban district forms the Western Suburbs and the eastern portion forms the Eastern Suburbs.

Similarly, when the Mayor accords a civic reception or presents a civic address to a Monarch, or a President or a Prime Minister of any country, he does so in the name of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the citizens of Mumbai.
