Pamukkale, (Turkish pronunciation: [pamuk̚'kalɛ]) meaning "cotton castle" in Turkish, is a natural site in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey. The area is famous for a carbonate mineral left by the flowing of thermal spring water.

[1]It first came into existence with the fusion of two small villages, Aziziye and Sultaniye in reference to the 19th century Ottoman sultan, founded by Dagestani refugees of the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878).
The cave is full of dripstones, stalactites and stalagmites. There are also travertine formations and a small thermal lake at the bottom of the cave. The cave was formed by rift ponor. It is popularly called small Pamukkale referring to Pamukkale, a well known touristic place to the west of the cave.
The natural site of Pamukkale is famous for its visually striking landscape, consisting of petrified waterfalls, stalactites and terraces. The nearby town of Hierapolis, founded at the end of the 2nd century BCE, hosts various Greco-Roman structures including temples, baths, a necropolis, as well as examples of Early Christian architecture .
Denizli is a city in Aegean Turkey, and seat of the province of Denizli.The city forms the urban part of the districts Merkezefendi and Pamukkale, with a population of 651,200 in 2022.
