With the permission of the Madras University, the Pre-University class was started in 1964 with just 171 students. The college was inaugurated on 6 August 1964 by the then Bishop Rt. Rev. I.R.H. Lawrence was a student of the Intermediate classes of the Scott Christian College, Nagercoil, during 1939–1941. His subjects were English, Tamil, Ancient History, Modern History and Logic. He went to college at the College of Fine Arts Trivandrum and obtained a B.A. Honours in History and Economics. Release of Autobiography held on 28 July 2004.
