When Krillin attempts to deliver Goku a Senzu Bean, Frieza attempts to blast him. Vegeta redirects the blast to Sorbet, which kills him. Afterwards, Vegeta demonstrates his own ability to transform into a Super Saiyan Blue. Frieza attempts to land a hit on Vegeta, but he fails to do so. Frieza is already exhausted from his fight with Goku.

The series serves as a sequel to the prior Dragon Ball anime and manga, which primarily focused on Goku's childhood experiences. Frieza stands over the incapacitated Goku, and offers Vegeta a chance to kill him to become his second-in-command. Vegeta refuses, transforms into Super Saiyan Blue, and attacks Frieza. When Krillin attempts to revive Goku with a healing Senzu bean, Frieza attacks him, but Vegeta deflects the energy blast which subsequently kills Sorbet.
Suddenly, Babidi tries to take over Vegeta's mind. Although he is urged to fight it, Babidi's magic is too strong, and Vegeta's impure heart gives in. Now with Babidi's "M" on his forehead, he has turned evil. Babidi transports them all back to the World Martial Arts stadium where he instructs Majin Vegeta to kill his friends.
