A Venn diagram is a widely used diagram style that shows the logical relation between sets, popularized by John Venn (1834–1923) in the 1880s. The diagrams are used to teach elementary set theory , and to illustrate simple set relationships in probability , logic , statistics , linguistics and computer science .
The 2x2 matrices show the same information like the Venn diagrams. (This matrix is similar to this Hasse diagram.) In set theory the Venn diagrams represent the set, which is marked in red. These 15 relations, except the empty one, are minterms and can be the case. The relations in the files below are disjunctions.
English: The necessary and sufficient conditions in the language of sets (Venn diagrams). Necessary condition means that in order to get into the sufficient area, S, you must at first enter the necessary area, N. Sufficient condition means that being in S ensures that you are in the N. Necessary and sufficient (if and only if) condition means that S = N.
An UpSet Plot showing how movie genres intersect. The largest intersection of two sets is the Comedy-Drama intersection. UpSet plots are a data visualization method for showing set data with more than three intersecting sets. UpSet shows intersections in a matrix, with the rows of the matrix corresponding to the sets, and the columns to the ...
This article lists mathematical properties and laws of sets, involving the set-theoretic operations of union, intersection, and complementation and the relations of set equality and set inclusion. It also provides systematic procedures for evaluating expressions, and performing calculations, involving these operations and relations.
English: Venn diagram picturing relationships between elements within self-determination theory of student motivation. As per [1] this is the uploader's own work as the diagram has been developed from the referenced source to to illustrate the three important elements discussed in the article.
