Getting the orders next day is especially important and Amazon have achieved this most of the time. But just the last few weeks I've noticed a new courier, Amazon Logistics. I get everything delivered to work and annoyingly Amazon Logistics are always trying to deliver at about 9pm, that's if they can find my work address in the first place.
I still hope to hear from others in terms of the Object Tracking Sound technology Samsung say they have introduced to certain models (it's an 8 speaker system fitted into the TV). I'd be curious to know how close it comes to Dolby Atmos, and if they sound can be replicated on an AV receiver and a separate surround sound system.
The DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage is also decent with the GZ2000 not quite capable of covering the entire gamut, but from 75% saturation down it tracks in a reasonable and accurate manner. Green and red are slightly undersaturated against the saturation tracking points, but the DeltaE errors are also just below the threshold.
The Samsung Q95T is the company’s flagship QLED 4K TV for 2020. It boosts a direct full array backlight with local dimming, the latest AI-enhanced upscaling, an anti-reflection screen, Object Tracking Sound (OTS), gaming features, a One Connect box and the full Tizen operating system.
The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max is fully-featured, a source of streaming entertainment that offers top quality and access to lots of services and apps. The addition of Xbox gaming and things like Spotify makes it much more than just about watching catch-up TV, while Alexa means it's part of a wider ecosystem and offers simple voice searching.
Calibrated colour gamut saturation tracking. After calibrating the greyscale a number of the colour errors were corrected, and the colour management system allowed for further improvements. Aside from some minor errors in red and green at 100% saturation, all the measurements were now tracking their targets very closely.
The LG also handled the video streaming services well, with both Netflix and Amazon delivering marvellous looking images with well-shot shows such as Better Call Saul and American Gods. However the best high definition source is Blu-ray and here the B7 really excelled, taking the progressive images and scaling them to match the Ultra HD panel.
The gamma is tracking BT1886 extremely well, and frankly any calibration of the greyscale and gamma would make no visible difference. The colour accuracy compared to the industry standard of Rec.709 isn’t quite as impressive, with room for improvement in terms of the saturation of red and blue, along with the hue of cyan.
The apps are all responsive and the image quality is excellent, with HDR support where appropriate. The Amazon Prime app supports HDR10+, and the projector correctly displays the fact that it is decoding the dynamic metadata format. Depending on the app, you can also bitstream Dolby Atmos to an outboard sound solution using the eARC HDMI input.
Looking at the EOTF tracking performance to ST.2084 we can see that, while the BenQ W2710i is restricted for brightness and dynamic range, it does try to keep highlight and shadow details. It tracks correctly and then rolls off gently to the peak brightness of the unit trying to retain as much detail as possible, but it is not very bright.
