This was a facility – a comprehensive, faith-based community center — that provided for the medical, social, and religious needs of the people living in the community. In 1936, there were approximately 600 residents in Sunny Slope. There was still much vacant land, covered with vegetation and cacti.
Prior to 1974 the Scottsdale Unified School District accepted students from the reservation. In 1965 400 students attended the Mesa school district facilities. In 1974 the Scottsdale district began rejecting residents of the reservation. In 2000, a total of 1,120 students from the reservation attended Mesa schools. [12]
