One of the primary responsibilities of the Office of the County Clerk is to handle the filing and recording of all documents affecting real estate ownership and transfer within the County of Sussex, including Deeds and Mortgages, (and their related documents), and Federal Tax Liens.
If you have questions about Vote By Mail, call the County Clerk's Election Office at 973-579-0900. If you have voter registration or party affiliation questions, call the County Board of Elections at 973-579-0950.
The Sussex County Clerk’s Office records and archives for public inspection those documents that record the transfer of real property within the county, including but not limited to: deeds, mortgages and mortgage-related documents, construction liens, federal tax liens, UCCs, vacations of roads, sub-division and wetlands maps.
