Echoing Bob's Bidonde's comment, I fear we have lived through the zenith of Model A parts availability and are returning to the sparce offerings of the Dark Ages of Model A parts in the 1970's with their attendant poor quality and fit. Is Rick's Antique Auto Parts making a comeback? (Only guys in the hobby 35+ years will get that one!)
Snyders auto parts Model A (1928-31) You bet Snyder's is the best. They are only about 1 1/2 hours drive from here but when someone in our "A Team" needs something we try to put together a list from members and a couple of us go down the turnpike and shop in person.
To give proper & fair credit to all of the other wonderful Model A vendors favorably mentioned often on this Forum, if you would meet eye to eye with say Mr. Phil & Mr. Steve at Bert's, Mr. Walt Bratton, etc. etc., these distinguished gentlemen would smile with sincerity & be glad to be apprised that you were able to get the parts shipped with ...
New Snyders catalog Model A (1928-31) "If I asked people what they wanted they would have said faster horses." ...
First let me say that I love Snyder's, I've bought a lot of parts from them and they've always been great. They shipped my new radiator very quickly! This is a comparison of their 30-31 HD radiator to what I believe is a stock radiator. There are major differences. First thing I noticed was the new one was about 1/3 the weight.
Mac's antique auto parts Model A (1928-31) I've used just about all of the above in the last two months. No complaints but Mike's was a little iffy during their move, a difficult time for them.
Snyder's and Bratton's have been around a long time and so has A+L Parts .They would not be if most of their parts suck. Over the years i dealt with all 3 but more with A+L parts because of his 180A [Deluxe Phaeton parts] . A+L will not deal with junk as i have found and that's why he has a small amount of inventory.
Re: Snyder's High Compression Heads By the way the "C" is just a parts number designation, not a Model. Also it does not mean the crank is counter balanced, it might be but then again there is a better chance that it's not.
In Snyder's 2016 catalog the instructions are on page A-172, upper left hand corner. It is important for all who work on the Model A to have all the catalogs available from the major parts suppliers. Besides selling you parts for your Model A, most all have descriptions and instructions of their products to help the restorer in the installation ...
The stock model a ford engine suffered from two issues, low compression and inadequate fuel.Building true performance is a sum of all parts, the head will wake it up,a single V8 down draft carburetor (Holley 94 or Stromberg 97) flows air (CFM) at the same rate the engine does, matching CFM flow rates insures adequate fuel at all rpms.
