She verified that shooting Underwood ammo does not void the warranty. She did recommend not shooting +P+, which I never do since it is not certified to SAAMI standards. When I did talk to my LGS, I was clear about which ammo I was shooting. He told me that Underwood ammo [in general] was too radical (his word not mine) for the P365 platform.
Does anyone have any experience with Underwood Ammunition? I'm really interested in their 308 Win ammo loaded with 150 gr Accubond at 2950 fps in a 24" barrel. I'll be shooting out of a 20" 1-10 teidt Rem Police LTR. I think this would be a great match for my close range whitetails, and expecting muzzle velocity to be approximately 2830 fps ...
Underwood tried telling me that 226's are known for light primer strikes. That's why I figured I would ask. The Underwood rep suggested I get a heavier hammer spring. I love the hot Underwood +p+ ammo, but I'm not about to give my pistol a heavier trigger pull just so I can shoot Underwood.
Anyone ever try it? I just ordered a couple hundred rounds of plus p 90 grain extreme defenders to try in my CZ p01 omega.
After shooting my new 9mm pistols Ilshot my first rounds of Underwood 68 grain 380+p Xtreme Defender out of my 365-380. First mag I thought I’d try head shots at 7 yards. Call me impressed. Recoil very manageable. Like shooting 124 grain 9mm fmj. My new 380 carry round.
Underwood loads it's 357 SIG and the 10MM to the Initial Factory Release of the ammunition in the 1990s. Where it was designed to be (for 10MM, a 180 Grain bullet at 1450 FPS. For 357 SIG, a 125 Grain at 1500 FPS)
The Underwood ammo averages about 200 fps more muzzle velocity than the Lehigh Defense brand load, at least at the time I chronographed Lehigh and Underwood. I have absolute confidence in the Underwood standard pressure ammo, which is why I carry it.
Underwood has a well-deserved reputation of loading their ammo hot and this one is no exception. The four rounds tested has an average velocity of 1128fps with a 147gr bullet. Four rounds out of a Sig 320 with a four inch barrel. Shot into two 16 inch blocks of Clear Ballistics gel at a distance of 10 feet.
Underwood is one of the absolute best ammo IMO, better than mass commercial brands as it is close to spec (1500ft) .357Sig and better spec for .380 otherwise Speer is very reliable a consistent. Have a few boxes of Sig ammo left, amazed how they have pretty much abandoned their own design (.357Sig) but hey...
Whenever I am hiking with the P365, I always keep it loaded with Underwood 9mm 115 gr +p+ Xtreme Penetrators, because my own research has lead me to believe it is the best 9mm ammo for defense against anything I might encounter on the trails. The ammo has always cycled flawlessly though the 365, or at least I thought it did until recently...
