His father Zaki Kaifi was a poet of the Urdu language, and the eldest son of Islamic scholar Muhammad Shafi Deobandi. Usmani began memorizing the Qur'an with Iftikhar Ahmad Qaiser, and completed memorizing it with Ronaq Ali.
