The Music City Stars, formerly known as the Nashville Broncs, was an expansion team in the American Basketball Association (ABA) that played from 2008 to 2010. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, the team was named for the city's association with music industry celebrities; it also referred the Music City Star (now known as the WeGo Star, a commuter rail service.

The 2008 Pacific Life Pacific-10 Conference men's basketball tournament was held between March 12 and March 15, 2008, at Staples Center in Los Angeles. All ten schools in the conference qualified for the tournament. Number one seed UCLA defeated number two seed Stanford 67–64 to win the conference tournament.
Six Pac-10 teams participated in the 2008 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. Three teams won their first-round games and all three would go on to play in their regional semi-finals. UCLA would go on to advance to the Final Four, their 18th Final Four in school history. They would go on to lose to the Memphis Tigers 63–78.
