When I bought the Stainless Target II I was torn between it and a Ruger Commander size pistol in 45 ACP. The Kimber was around $100 more money and I like the Commander size pistol, but the slide to frame fit and trigger was much nicer on the Kimber, and I really like 9mm in 1911 format. Good luck on finding your right pistol.
Problem: Failure to feed last round in magazine. Details: With both hollowpoint and ball ammo, I was having a failure to feed on the last round in the magazine, maybe 5% of the time. I tried Kimber magazines, Wilson magazines (7 and 8 round), and Cobra mags. Some mags were worse than others, but all had the problem.

Nope. You would need to tell us the model, and add enough XX's to let us know how many total numbers there are. If it's an older model, we could probably guess within a year. On newer models, like if that number is K102XXX, you would have to call Kimber. sweetwillow555.
Best performing magazines for 1911. When I picked up my Super Carry Custom HD, knowing that it came with only one magazine, I also picked up a couple of extra Kim Pro Tac Mags. Later in the day, I picked up a Wilson Combat mag. My experience at the range has convinced me that the Wilson Combat mags are superior.
My LGS had a few. Basically the same as a Kimber LW with a few feature touches and a grey/black two-tone finish. Kimber also offers an all black version called the Nightstar and a silver/grey version called the Arctic. Same same inside, different paint job outside. They seem to be a good value IMHO. They are priced right as entry level Kimbers ...
The following is a list of Kimber 1911s I have personally owned since the year 2005 and the various issues each pistol came with brand new out of the box. Also the actual purchase price of each weapon (not MSRP) and a brief description of performance. Notes: FTF (failure to feed) FTRTB (failure to return to battery).
Kimber 1911 Custom II failure to feed. New Kimber .45 ACP. Very accurate and comfortable to shoot BUT fails to feed about 1/3 of the time. About 250 rounds through it so far. All quality factory ammo. Owners manual says allow 500 rounds for break in. Seems to me that this is excessive failure to feed even for a new gun.

The Ultimate 1911 (Full article on post #11 and another article on post #13) The Government Model industry was shaken to its core by the introduction last year of Kimber's 1911. Priced at a mere $625.....How Kimber, a name associated with high grade hunting rifles, came to be in the 1911 business requires a little history lesson.
