On March 30 of this year, which coincidentally was the final day of National Ladder Safety Awareness Month, I tumbled off a 15-foot ladder onto my brick patio and broke my left ankle in four places. Because of the swelling after the fracture, my orthopaedic surgeon made me wait 11 days before he performed surgery to place plates and screws and ...
Hello, a little over 12 weeks ago I broke my ankle, it was a closed fracture of my left lateral malleolus. The doctor said it did not require surgery. I was non-weight bearing for 12 weeks. After 12 weeks the bone still has not fully healed, but they said I should begin trying to walk on it because they're worried about the bones becoming too weak.
I totally understand. I shattered my ankle. Plates, screw in both Fibula and tibia with 2 screw inner ankle bones. Mine was osteoporotic fractures which cause greater pain and take longer to heal, as I'm 60. I didn't find this out until after I fractured my ankle and had a Dexa Scan. I was walking at post op 5 MONTHS WITHOUT aids and my foot ...
Went on here looking for remedies for my daughter (13 yr old). Ankle surgery Feb 2017. Her pediatric ortho kept saying: xrays look good & she's all healed. I had enough of that after constant complaints of pain & swelling & things I couldn't understand or feel myself. She has 2 screws. I took her to my podiatrist.
The day after I broke the ankle and foot, I slipped and stubbed two toes on my good foot against one of my crutches, broke both of them, had them taped up for a couple of weeks, the toes and top of that foot swell up just as much as the other foot, only the ankle is better. Had to buy a larger size in shoes.
I'm post 9 months surgery. I too shattered my ankle with a dislocation. Long story short. I too am in pain with my ankle and foot, especially inner ankle bone where I have two screws. Not sure if this will help me or you but after having physio for over 6 months my physio has moved me on to another physio who practices chronic physio.
I had surgery April 19, still red, purple, swollen. 2-1/2 weeks ago I was told I was 90% healed, outer edge of fracture still needed some healing. It hurts to walk on, I'm limping around, but when elevated feels tons better. What you describe is normal for me at least. I also still have pain on inner ankle.
Hi ya. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I'm having exactly the same symptoms as you but 6 years after breaking my ankle! I too have a appointment to go back May. I broke my ankle in a car accident whilst 7 months pregnant with my little boy. As I was pregnant I couldn't have the operation I needed to fix my ankle.
Also said that during the healing process, and as the swelling goes down, I may experience different sensations throughout the foot. I have found that to be true. Appears to be the body just healing itself. I have noticied thatt he pain decreases as the swelling goes down.
When I let go of my foot, it sort of just dangled there and my ankle was already swelling up. I knew it was broken. I sat on the last step of my stairs for 20 minutes, waiting for a ride to go to the emergency room. Long story short, I had a right fibula fracture with an unstable ankle joint and needed surgery.
