BBB is extremely accurate as far as bicycle pricing is concerned. All their pricing data comes from actual sales. They sell thousands and thousands of bikes and scrape data from other bike sales transactions (ebay, pink bike, etc.). A lot of the confusion people seem to have comes from a few sources.

Take $200-250 and enjoy the goodwill and knowing it's going to a good place. Go on craigslist or ebay and see what similar bikes are selling for. With the caveat that a lot of craigslist bikes are listed way too high. Combine that with the "Blue Book" to get a feeling for the fair market value of the bike.
