George Chapman's poem in heroic couplets Andromeda liberata, Or the nuptials of Perseus and Andromeda, [24] was written for the 1614 wedding of Robert Carr, 1st Earl of Somerset and Frances Howard. The wedding, which led to a "train of intrigue and murder and executions, was the scandal of the age."
