Metropolitan Opera Live in HD (also known as The Met: Live in HD) is a series of live opera performances transmitted in high-definition video via satellite from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City to select venues, primarily movie theaters, in the United States and other parts of the world.

Contrary to modern encores, encores were traditionally spontaneous and followed a singular piece or movement. Performers would often perform an encore to multiple pieces within one concert; this could nearly double the length of a concert. It is commonly believed the encores first began due to a lack of ways to listen to pieces on demand.
The premiere was broadcast on Metropolitan Opera Radio on SiriusXM and audio-streamed at metopera.org. [3] The performance of 10 December was video-cast to movie theatres as part of the Metropolitan Opera Live in HD series [4] [5] and telecast on 17 March 2023 by PBS as part of the Great Performances at the Met series. The Metropolitan Opera Presents ended its 26-year run in 2003, and was replaced on PBS in 2007 by Great Performances at the Met. Operas aired in this series are repeats of the performances presented live on video in movie theaters in the Met's "Live in HD" series. Not all PBS affiliate stations may carry the program.

The opera, in its Italian version, was performed for the first time at the Metropolitan Opera in 2022, with Sondra Radvanovsky, Matthew Polenzani, Janai Brugger, Michele Pertusi, and Ekaterina Gubanova. It was featured on the Metropolitan Opera Live in HD on Saturday, October 22, 2022 and an encore showing took place on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
