Amar Nath Kak (1889–1963) was a prominent Kashmiri lawyer and author whose most important books are Hamara Vrittanta and the Gayatri, both written in Hindi. [citation needed] He was the older brother of Kashmiri archaeologist and politician Ram Chandra Kak.

Vinod Kumar Shukla (born 1 January 1937) is a modern Hindi writer known for his style that often borders on magic-realism.His works include the novels Naukar ki Kameez (which has been made into the film of the same name by Mani Kaul) and Deewar Mein Ek Khirkee Rahati Thi (A Window lived in a Wall), which won the Sahitya Akademi Award for the best Hindi work in 1999.
He penned numerous novels, collections of essays, historical research on medieval religious movements of India especially Kabir and Natha Sampradaya, and historical outlines of Hindi literature. Besides Hindi, he was master of many languages including Sanskrit , Bengali , Punjabi , Gujarati as well as Pali , Prakrit , and Apabhramsa .
