Kerrville is a city in Texas, and the county seat of Kerr County, Texas, United States. [4] The population of Kerrville was 24,278 at the 2020 census . [ 5 ] Kerrville is named after James Kerr , a major in the Texas Revolution , and friend of settler-founder Joshua Brown , who settled in the area to start a shingle-making camp.
Texas State Highway 39 runs west from Ingram 6 miles (10 km) to Hunt. Interstate 10 comes within 5 miles (8 km) of Ingram, with the closest access from Exit 501 (FM 1338). According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 1.4 square miles (3.7 km 2 ), of which 0.02 square miles (0.05 km 2 ), or 1.50%, are water. [ 5 ]
