Rcope822. 4314 posts · Joined 2012. #3 · Jan 29, 2022. I've shot everything from 115 grain hollow points to 147 grain subsonic ammo in my EZ9 and it has functioned flawlessly with all. My choice for defense is Hornady Critical Defense but any of the high quality 115/124 grain defensive loads available should be fine.
Just be sure your +P self defense ammo works in the gun and then use something milder for routine shooting. BTW, do NOT use +P+ in your Shield or any other gun you care about. There are SAAMI pressure specifications for standard 9 mm and +P 9mm ammo but there are NO SAAMI specs for +P+ so you really have no idea what it is. Jon E and Injunbro.
2. Check to make sure your trigger bar is not deformed. Here's how: Disassemble the gun, set the slide down. In the frame, bring the yellow sear deactivation lever back to the up position. Pull the trigger and with it pinned, look to make sure the trigger bar is getting underneath the sear.
HEADKNOCKER2. 145 posts · Joined 2022. #3 · Jan 12, 2023. I have 4-5 3.1" M&P Shields. Noticed the newer Shield Plus is easier to rack the slide than the older M1.0 & M2.0s. The recoil spring assembly is different between the Plus & the older M1.0/M2.0. The Plus has a Green spring as the older one a Red spring.

With an EMPTY magazine in I am able to pull the slide back and it automatically locks the slide. I then drop the magazine out and pull the slide slightly rewards and the slide ...
I have an M&P9 Shield. For practice and range use I use the standard 115gr ball. I've run Blazer Brass, Winchester White Box, Federal American Eagle, Federal White Box (Range&Target), Herter's Select Brass, and Speer Lawman, as well as my own handloads (115gr Berry's plated HBRN over 5.1 gr of Alliant Power Pistol).
Pocket carry, the only handgun I pocket carry is a S&W M640-38Spl which is not employed as a primary EDC. The EDC-S&W Shield 9x19mm is carried in a belt holster with a cover garment or covered by an untucked shirt. If you want to pocket each to their own, its just not for me with the S&W Shield 9x19mm. mrmike7189 and obaatman.
Only show this user. #2 ·Jul 13, 2013. I have had a 9mm shield since last October. I have fired over 600 rounds, made up of 5 or 6 ammo brands and have had absolutely no problems or malfunctions. As far as the mag drop problem with the 40's. It is my understanding that the problem only existed in early production guns and has since been resolved.
Comparing the two Performance Center Shields, what really made the difference for me was the trigger; I shot the .40 better than the 9mm. That trigger made the difference for me -strangely enough because the 9mm trigger was lighter. Since then I have acquired another standard CA-compliant .40 Shield.
