NBC television logo (1943) NBC simple wordmark logo (1946) In 1943, NBC introduced its third logo, a microphone surrounded by lightning bolts, which was a modification of the original 1926 logo used by the NBC radio network. NBC used a modified version of Futura for its original 1986 version of the current logo and its wordmarks. [27] [28] A bold version of the font was used for NBC Sports on-screen graphics from 1989 to 1991, and by CBS Sports from 1992 to 1996. [28]
The original logo created by Steff Geissbuhler of Chermayeff & Geismar on August 26, 1985 and was sightly modified and altered, with "NBC" wordmark in different font set in "Sweet Sans Pro", the beak is now a bit bigger, and the feathers are slightly thinner (which is the same as the peacock from the 2004 NBCUniversal logo).
It uses the custom NBC Tinker font based on the modified Sweet Sans font as the September 30, 2013 logo, except it has written in bold letters and sightly widened spacing between "NBC" letters (known as "NBC Tinker Pro"). This logo was made by Sibling Rivalry with the typeface created by Loyalkaspar.
NBC has used a number of logos throughout its history; early logos used by the television and radio networks were similar to the logo of its then-parent company, RCA. Logos used later in NBC's existence incorporated stylized peacock designs, including the current version that has been in use since 1986.
