It is Romania's only metropolitan area where Hungarians form the largest ethnic group, with 98,593 people. The Romanian population is 95,867.

Luduș (Romanian pronunciation:; Hungarian: Marosludas or Ludas; Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈmɒroʃludɒʃ], German: Ludasch) is a town in Transylvania, Romania in Mureș County, 44 km (27 mi) south-west from the county's capital, Târgu Mureș.
In 1944, workers at the railway in Romania founded a new club under the name ASM Târgu Mureș, later CS Târgu Mureș, a new club to gather the best players in the city together. In 1959 the club was revived under the name of Voinţa Târgu Mureș. [2] In September 1964, the club merged with ASA Târgu Mureș. [3]
