The Panther KF51 (KF is short for German "Kettenfahrzeug" lit. ' tracked vehicle ') is a German fourth-generation main battle tank (MBT) that is under development by Rheinmetall Landsysteme (part of Rheinmetall's Vehicle Systems division). It was unveiled publicly at the Eurosatory defence exhibition on 13 June 2022. [2] [3]
Mobility parameters will vary by variant and exact configuration but are stated to include a maximum road speed of 70 km/h, a gradeability of at least 60%, a sideslope traverse capability of at least 30%, the ability to climb (forwards) a 1 m vertical obstacle, the ability to cross a 2.5 m trench, and an unprepared fording depth of 1.5 m.
at the top in the redirect for the K2 Black Panther, it says "For For the modern South Korean Main Battle Tank, see, see". Suggest removing the duplicate `For` and `See`. 24.62.67.63 00:14, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
The Panther carried more ammunition and had a faster firing cycle: for every 1–1.5 shots of the IS-2, the Panther and Tiger could fire 3-4 times. [148] With the addition of a semi-automatic drop breech over the previously manual screw, [ 149 ] this breech modification increased the IS-2's rate of fire to 3-4 rounds per minute.
The order included 17 AC Sleepers, 17 AC Chairs cars, 34 non-AC Chair cars with pantry, 33 non-AC Chair cars with prayer room and 19 power car coaches. These coaches are made with stainless steel, have fiat bogies and are capable of running at 160 km/h speed. The first 60 coaches were delivered by June 30 the same year.
Its list price was $96,000. [1] The six-wheel configuration was inspired by the Tyrrell P34 Formula 1 racing car. [2] [1] The layout consists of one pair of larger rear wheels with Pirelli 265/50VR16 tyres, and two pairs of smaller steerable front wheels with Pirelli 205/40VR13 tyres.
This upgrade to the Panther tank increased the thickness of the glacis plate from 80 mm (3.1 in) to 100 mm (3.9 in), the side hull armour from 40 mm (1.6 in) to 60 mm (2.4 in), and decreased the armour on the top hull from 40 mm (1.6 in) to 30 mm (1.2 in). Production of the Panther II was slated to begin in September 1943.
The armoured hull is mounted on an 8-wheel drive, with 4 inner metal wheels, which can be raised for driving on the road. The four central wheels have aluminum rims with steel grousers , separated by rubber blocks; [ 3 ] with all eight wheels deployed, ground pressure is only 0.7 kg (1.5 lb) per 1 cm 2 (0.16 in 2 ).
