The governing body consists of the Village Board made up of the Village President (Mayor), six Trustees elected by district, and the non-voting Village Clerk. The Board of Trustees as a whole strives to formulate policy in the best interest of the residents.
Starting April 1, 2021, the Village of Oak Lawn requires a point-of-sale sewer inspection prior to transfer of property. The Village inspects private sewer systems to confirm compliance with Village Code 9-4D-11 .
To aid residents with their environmental needs, the Village of Oak Lawn offers yard waste disposal through Republic Services. The Village or the Village’s waste hauler (Republic Services / Allied Waste) does not collect debris generated from contractors. The contractor must haul away the debris.
