+1, I like that this is the first answer to address the multiple Unicode code points involved. However, I think you might mention that regardless of the characters' names or official prescriptions for use, the less-than and greater-than signs are commonly used as a type of brackets, probably because they can easily be typed and their display is more widely supported than that of the other symbols.

  3. Should spaces be used between "<" or ">" and numbers or letters?

    english.stackexchange.com/questions/403176

All three of these reference works support at least some degree of spacing on either side of operational signs in equations, although Words into Type, which was published near the end of the era of hand-compositing, seems less inclined than Chicago or Oxford to endorse a uniform approach—and even indicates that a closed-up treatment can be ...

My keyboard has 1 key less than the other Italian keyboards: my left 'shift' key is longer than the left 'shift' key of other keyboards. Now my keyboard has 2 'ctrl' key, like all other Italian keyboards, and in the right positions too, because the key to the right of 'alt gr' key is actually a 'ctrl' key so its function is right (but it has ...

    english.stackexchange.com/.../how-to-express-temperatures-greater-or-less-than

Although there are contexts when it feels natural to say greater even though what we mean is greater in magnitude (i.e. greater in absolute value), everyday thermometry is not one of those contexts, and the usual mathematical convention applies. We would say that -20 °C is lower than-15 °C or, equivalently, less than-15 °C.
