M. A. Wazed Miah (Bengali: এম এ ওয়াজেদ মিয়া; 6 February 1942 – 9 May 2009) was a Bangladeshi physicist and the writer of a number of texts in physics and some political history books, a former chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and husband of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He was a distant cousin of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and grandfather-in-law of Saima Wazed. His brother, Hiru Mia, was married to the sister of Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, mother-in-law of Tarique Rahman (son of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia). Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain: Son of Nuru Mia, former minister and member of parliament from Faridpur.
Hossain was born on 25 September 1942 to a Bengali Muslim Khandaker family in Faridpur. His father, Khandaker Nurul Islam, was a member of the first National Parliament of Bangladesh. [4] His father was a cousin of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, making him a cousin of Sheikh Hasina and member of the Sheikh–Wazed family.
