Winter sowing lets you extend your growing season and helps some types of seeds sprout better.
Ficus lyrata Warb. (known as fiddle-leaf fig) is an evergreen tree or shrub, native to West and Central Africa tropical rain forest, being one of the most demanding and showy Ficus species. It is known as a decorative species in Europe and North America (Florida) as well. It can grow 9–12 m in these areas. [4]
Ficus altissima is a "strangler fig", often starting life as an epiphyte, on trees such as Lagerstroemia (as illustrated above) or palms, sending down roots to the ground which in time grow stout enough to support the growing tree independently.
Ficus pumila is a woody evergreen liana, growing to 2.5–4 m (8 ft 2 in – 13 ft 1 in). It can grow up to 9–12 m (30–39 ft) tall if it isn't regularly pruned. [6] The juvenile foliage is much smaller and thinner than mature leaves produced as the plant ages. The leaves are oval, cordate, asymmetrical, with opposite veins.
