The U.S. Census Bureau considers Wisconsin towns to be minor civil divisions. As of 2015, Wisconsin had 1,255 towns. [1] Towns often have the same names as adjacent cities or villages. [6]

As of the 2020 census, Wisconsin had a population of 5,893,718, and ranked 27th in the United States in population density. [9] [10] The center of population is located in Green Lake County, in the city of Markesan. [11] Wisconsin is divided into 72 counties, and has 190 cities, 407 villages, and 1250 towns. [12]
Professor Lawrence Martin created a schema for dividing Wisconsin into geographical regions in his work "The Physical Geography of Wisconsin". [1] [2] Western Upland; Eastern Ridges and Lowlands; Central Plain; Northern Highland; Lake Superior Lowland; Three of these geographical provinces are uplands and two are lowlands.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.00 square miles (7.77 km 2), of which, 2.92 square miles (7.56 km 2) is land and 0.08 square miles (0.21 km 2) is water. [2] Barron is located along U.S. Highway 8 and Wisconsin Highway 25.
