U.S. Highway 2 (US 2) is a United States Numbered Highway in northwest and northeast Minnesota, which runs from the Red River at East Grand Forks and continues east to Duluth, where the route crosses the Richard I. Bong Memorial Bridge over the Saint Louis Bay. The route connects the cities of East Grand Forks, Bemidji, Grand Rapids, and Duluth.
Rainfall increases eastward, so valleys become less barren and peaks over 11,500 feet (3,500 m) add scenic interest. The stretch on US 6 between Tonopah and Ely is the longest signed distance between gas stations with 168 miles (270 km). Ely is the largest town on US 6 in Nevada. US 50 joins US 6 at Ely.

There was no highway originally planned between Fargo and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Plans for I-29 were extended from Sioux Falls to Fargo in October 1957, and the entire highway from Kansas City, Missouri, to the Canadian border was signed as I-29.
