Shatilov placed seventh at the 2006 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, and became the first Israeli gymnast in a world apparatus final. He placed fifth on floor exercise at the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He also won a gold medal in the Glasgow World Cup in 2008. Shatilov represented Israel at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and in 1978 he became the first American male gymnast to win a gold medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. John Brody Malone (born January 7, 2000) is an American artistic gymnast. He has been a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team since 2020 and represented the United States at the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games.
