Ada is a city in and the county seat of Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, United States. [ 4] The population was 16,481 at the 2020 United States Census. [2] The county was created at statehood from part of the Chickasaw Nation in Indian Territory. It was named for a historic Chickasaw tribal area in Mississippi.
