Nov 9, 2010. #2. Re: Outboard value vs NADA. NADA is generally worthless and is extra special worthless for outboards. Just keep checking craigslist or ask on here. Heck, I've got a pretty decent outboard value guide in my head that's better than NADA. S.
Re: NADA price guides for outboards??? really? NADA is WAY low on used engines, My 1998 Johnson 70hp 4 stroke is "valued" at ~800$!!!!! Minimum I've been offered on trade is 2500$ and 2 dealers said they could sell it for 3500$ in under a week. My Grandpa's 130hp Yamaha 2 stroke is valued at ~400$, would sell for 2000$ in a hurry on craigslist.
Re: Value of outboard motor Two follow up thoughts.

1. I have had 2 cars and a boat/outboard totaled by an insurance company in my life. (none of them my fault). In ALL cases when I counteroffered to accept their offer IF I got to keep the salvage propery - they agreed. Be totally firm and sound resolved.
Also parts can be a little tough to find for older Mercurys. However, that one is real cherry so I'd say $400-$600. It's a tough one to nail down because it may have more than just a practical value to someone. A regular old Mercury 6 HP from like the late 70s would only be a $3-400 motor. (my opinion only)
I;m looking to upgrade my outboard and was trying to find a value for the one I have. The NADA only shows 1996 motors as having 3 cyl. My 4 stroke 50hp has 4. The serial # is 0G315548P. Any help would be greatly appreciated SM
Im not sure if this belongs here, but there is not general questions forum for motors. I have been using the NADA site to check weigths but their retail value for motors seem a bit off. I mean, and 1987 suzuki 85 hp motor $215 retail value? I doubt that. Anyone knows a place that can be used...
I have a 1990 25 hp Yamaha Precision Blend electric start outboard in really good shape on my 16' Lund Rebel. I'm wondering what the approximate value is on this motor if I decided to sell it. I can't find any for sale and Nada values these days where I live seem real low for boats and motors. This motor starts right up and trolls down real nice.
Re: Why are NADA Outboard Prices SO LOW? E is for electric start M is manual start L is for long leg H is tiller handle I think? Your motor is the 4 cylinder classic design that has been around since the 50's. Old technology. 25 year old motor. Its at a point in its life where something will always be failing.
I certainly wish they were worth that kind of money. I offered one for sale at last week-end's Antique Outboard Club's meet that was attended by hundreds of collectors and other interested people. It is a good running motor, good ignition, clean fuel system, new impeller, new seals, etc. My asking price was $150. I still have it.
yes you are right , regardless ,im going to look for a motor with more hp then 40 but under 200 lbs . of coarse reinforcements etc etc will be done .. Click to expand... Changes of this type tend to transfer load from 1 part of a boat (transom & knees) to other parts of the boat that werent intended to handle that additional load.
