Cowabunga Canyon Waterpark is a water park in Spring Valley, Nevada. [1] The park was part of Village Roadshow Theme Parks' Wet'n'Wild chain of water parks located across the world, until it was purchased by Pyek Group in March 2022. Pyek Group also owns Cowabunga Bay and together these 2 water parks makeup the Cowabunga Vegas brand.
In November 2009, the pair purchased Nashville Shores, consisting of a marina, RV park and water park. They redeveloped the water park for the 2010 season. In early 2011, it was announced the pair had purchased the Ocean Breeze Waterpark in Virginia with plans to renovate it for the 2011 season. [1]
The water park initially opened on July 4, 1985, and had eight slides, with people being able to reach 50 mph (80 km/h) on some. [4] Slides were manufactured by WhiteWater West. It measured 20 acres (8.1 ha) in size and could hold 2,000 people in all. A wave pool and tube rapids were added later. [5] During its peak, it utilized 45 employees.

The Black Hole, a water slide at Splash Works, was opened in 1996.. The year 1996 was the single largest expansion of the water park since its opening in 1992. It saw Splash Works expand to 8.1 hectares (20 acres) [4] through an expansion south of the Mighty Canadian Minebuster, so much so, some of the track had to be reconfigured so a bridge could be built over it.
