A VTech educational video game. An educational video game is a video game that provides learning or training value to the player. Edutainment describes an intentional merger of video games and educational software into a single product (and could therefore also comprise more serious titles sometimes described under children's learning software).
Its games teach the alphabet, phonics, basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), and art and animal facts to players. Along with a directional pad, the system features a touchscreen with a stylus pen that enables young users to interact directly with the screen. The Leapster was released in October 2003. [2]
Educational software, as the name implies, are a subset of educational games which attempt to teach the user using the game as a vehicle. Most of these types of games target young user from the ages of about three years to mid-teens; past the mid-teens, subjects become so complex (e.g. Calculus) that teaching via a game may be impractical.
The two templates must be used together to properly generate the table. The main template does not have any special parameters other than accepting instances of {{Video game titles/item}}. The item sub-template has multiple parameters to display the video game title's information as well as alter the format of the table rows.
