ITV Encore was a drama television channel from ITV plc launched on 9 June 2014. [6] Unlike ITV's other channels it was available exclusively on Sky and Now TV, as part of their subscription packages. A high-definition simulcast and timeshift channel, ITV Encore HD and ITV Encore +1, was also available on Sky.

ITV took full control of Granada Sky Broadcasting, and ceased broadcasting the Granada Plus channel, thereby allowing ITV3 to take the channel number, bandwidth, and programme rights, meaning all platforms could receive the channel from launch. This meant ITV plc completely took full control of the two GSB channels, Plus and Men & Motors. Shortly afterwards, ITV plc decided to close Plus, and moved ITV2 to channel 118 making space for ITV3. The slide that was shown on analogue cable after Plus closed down in 2004. It continued to be displayed until 2011 when it was finally removed.
The channel, launched on 1 October 1996 as Granada Plus, was later known as G Plus and finally Plus. It broadcast until 1 November 2004, when ITV bought BSkyB's stake in GSB, and closed the channel, replacing it with ITV3 , and taking Plus' low EPG position on Sky Digital .
On 8 November, Granada Sky Broadcasting was renamed ITV Digital Channels Limited, shortly after the closure of Granada Plus left Men & Motors as the sole survivor of the original four channels. As part of ITV's buy-out of Sky's shareholding, Sky would have received 49.5% of any proceeds (net of liabilities) from any future sale of Men & Motors. [1]
