I tried rocking the steering wheel back and forth, rather aggressively while attempting to turn the key at the same time but the key will still not turn and the steering wheel won't unlock. I searched and only found to try flippng the key (that didn't work) or hot wire it and drive to the dealer. Help!
I was able to duplicate the wheel locking after I slammed on the brakes causing ABS to activate and once I let go of the brake the wheel locked and after jerking the wheel side to side and no luck I quickly was able to park the vehicle removed the ignition key and started the vehicle up and the wheel was unlocked.
I know the valet key is used so the "valet" doesnt get into your glove compartment and trunk. But Im sure more than a few have thought about this...if the valet is in your car he can just pull the trunk release by the drivers side. Whats the use? They should have made the trunk release in the glove compartment or at least put a lock on it.
The most elegant method to bypass the steering lock is to remove the entire ignition cylinder. The ignition cylinder could be relocated (i.e. shoved under the dash) if you felt a backup ignition system was needed, but if the Advanced Keys system is installed correctly there's little chance that the unit will ever malfunction.
(1) open door (2) lock, unlock, lock (3) shut door not sure if the best way was setting in the drivers seat, use that door, and the door switches to lock/unlock. I tried the key fod but it just beeps beeps IDK if thats the way. Do this and give the car an hour, it didn't happen imminently for me & others. _____
