The restaurant was opened in 1924 at 1256 South 13th Street by Louie Macala. In 1947 he sold it to Josef and Ann (Kapoun) Libor, who moved it in 1959 to its present location, which was originally the Bohemian Savings and Loan, and later a Bohemian grocery called Amen's.

Bloomfield was laid out and platted in 1853. [2] The community was named for blooming orchard fields near the original town site. [3] The post office at Bloomfield was called Sago. [2] The Sago post office was established in 1857, and remained in operation until 1902. [4]
