San Roque is a town and municipality in the Colombian department of Antioquia. Part of the subregion of Northeastern Antioquia , it is located 1,475 m (4,839 ft) above sea level. The municipality was founded by Francisco Martinez de Ospina on the 8 February 1880.
The post office is located at the west end of a narrow lot that slopes gently down toward the shore of the lake. It is on the northeast corner of the intersection. The neighborhood is commercial, with the surrounding structures used for that purpose. A parking lot is located to the east of the post office, accessible from Kurosaka.
A 9 km extension from San Roque station to La Línea de la Concepción was laid in 1893 which was to form the San Roque–La Línea railway line, but this was stopped by the Spanish government, the line eventually being completed in the 1970s but no train has ever run on them. [1] [2]
