The Bray-Digges House in October 2021. The Williamsburg Bray School was a school for free and enslaved Black children founded in 1760 in Williamsburg, Virginia. [1] Opened at Benjamin Franklin's suggestion in 1760, the school educated potentially hundreds of students until its closure in 1774. [2]
William Green's 1669 patent for 1,150 acres (4.7 km 2) encompassed most of the peninsula between Dogue Creek and Accotink Creek, along the Potomac River.Although this property was sub-divided and sold in the early 18th century, it was reassembled during the 1730s to create the central portion of Col. William Fairfax's 2,200-acre (8.9 km 2) plantation of Belvoir Manor.

Sometime before 1678, Edward Bray had built a brick church, an ordinary, ferry, and wharf at the present Leedstown. Up to this date the site was known as Rappahannock. After 1678, it was known as Bray's Wharf or Bray's Church. By 1742, it was known as Leeds. Later it was known as Leedstown.
