Harrisburg is located in southwestern Cabarrus County. It is bordered to the north by Concord and to the west by Charlotte in Mecklenburg County. North Carolina Highway 49 passes through the center of Harrisburg, leading northeast 57 miles (92 km) to Asheboro and southwest 13 miles (21 km) to the center of Charlotte.

According to the 2020 United States census, North Carolina is the 9th-most populous state with 10,439,388 inhabitants, but the 28th-largest by land area spanning 53,819 square miles (139,390 km 2) of land. [1] [2] North Carolina is divided into 100 counties and contains 551 municipalities consisting of cities, towns, or villages. [3]
North Carolina Highway 15 (NC 15) was an original state highway, established in 1921. It began at the intersection of Trade and Tryon Street in Charlotte , connecting with NC 20 / NC 27 , traversing northeast along Tryon Street and Old Concord Road to Harrisburg and Concord.
