The Old Mill is near the site of Toronto's first sawmill, [1] built c. 1793. [2] A series of mill complexes were built on the site, all of which were destroyed by fire. The last of these was built in 1848 by William Tyrell and burned in 1881. Its multi-storey ruins stood until the year 2000. [3]
