Cashel (/ ˈ k æ ʃ əl /; Irish: Caiseal, meaning 'stone ringfort') [5] is a town in County Tipperary in Ireland. Its population was 4,422 in the 2016 census . [ 1 ] The town gives its name to the ecclesiastical province of Cashel .
The village is situated along the R688 regional road and has two major towns nearby, Clonmel is 17 kilometres south of Rosegreen and Cashel is 10.3 kilometres north of Rosegreen. The village has easy access to the M8 motorway north of the village and the closest airport to Rosegreen is Waterford Airport located 73 kilometres southwards.
It is not listed on either Herman Moll's 1714 map of Ireland, nor is it depicted in Taylor and Skinner's Maps of the Roads of Ireland, published in 1778. While New Inn does not appear to have existed in the 18th century, the road now known as the R639 between Cashel and Cahir clearly did.
Ardmayle (Irish: Árd Máil) is a civil parish, village and townland in County Tipperary, Ireland. [1] It is situated near Boherlahan, Goolds Cross and Cashel. It is located on the River Suir and was once served by a railway station on the Goolds Cross Cashel railway. It was the only stop between the two stations.
