The SD80MAC was a 5,000 horsepower (3.7 MW) C-C diesel-electric locomotive. It was powered by a 20-cylinder version of EMD's 710G prime mover , and was the second diesel locomotive by GM-EMD to use a V20 engine , since EMD's SD45 series.
The EMD SD90MAC is a model of 6,000 hp (4,470 kW) [1] C-C diesel-electric locomotive produced by General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD). It is, with the SD80MAC , one of the largest single-engined locomotives produced by EMD and among the most powerful diesel-electric locomotives, surpassed only by the dual-engined DDA40X .
The EMD SD89MAC was a 4,500 horsepower (3,360 kW) C-C diesel-electric locomotive produced by General Motors Electro-Motive Division. Along with the SD80MAC and SD90MAC , the SD89MAC was one of the largest single-engine locomotives produced by EMD.

In 2005, a project commenced to rebuild new Class 39-000 type GM-EMD GT26CU-3 diesel-electric locomotives for Spoornet from Classes 34-600, 34-800 and 37-000 locomotives, using suitable frames from wrecked locomotives. Two companies were invited to produce prototypes for the project.
The SD20-2 was a type of diesel-electric locomotive created in 1979/1980 by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad by rebuilding EMD SD35 locomotives. [1] Five of the B&O's SD35 fleet were rebuilt at their Cumberland Yard by fitting a non-turbocharged EMD 645 engine and upgraded electrical systems. [2]
I just saw another reference to the 16-710G3C-ES, 4000 HP engine used in the SD70MAC (but not the SD70M). It's in a 2003-produced DVD issued by Trains Magazine on motive power. Still not sure how that fits into the specs table. It also makes a reference to the initial engine used in the convertible SD90MACs as the 16-710G3-ES with 4,300 HP.
