Southern States Cooperative is an American farmer-owned agricultural supply cooperative headquartered in the Richmond, Virginia area. Southern States Cooperative supplies small, medium, and large commercial farmers with livestock and animal feed, pasture seed, vegetable seed, farm fertilizers, farm supplies, bulk fuel, and crop services, including information and products to grow better crops.
In 2016, the company bought a former processing plant in Siler City, with plans to renovate and update the plant. In October of that year, Mountaire Farms opened a new Corporate Office Building in Millsboro. The company began agricultural operations in 1747. In 1921, Rutter's started a dairy company. The first Rutter's Farm Stores opened on February 22, 1968. In 2018, the company shortened its name from "Rutter's Farm Stores" to "Rutter's". [1] The first location outside of Pennsylvania opened on May 30, 2018 in Inwood, West Virginia. [2]
